This print is one of a series I did on fritillaries, after seeing the stunning bank full of these gorgeous spring flowers at Darlington Hall in Devon. It was also an experiment in cutting the lino in a criss-cross way to make a pattern and a tone. I wanted to keep it spare and simple, fritillaries like lanterns in the dark.
